Don’t be put off by the remote location or the above-American prices at The Green Room. The cocktails are magnificent, the tostadas are stellar, and the views are astounding. 11. Barracuda Cantina

Barracuda Cantina deserves its legendary status on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles. The original location is easily the best restaurant in Cerritos Beach. Barracuda has a unique cocktail program crafted by a talented Mixologist, but they also make great traditional drinks, like margaritas and palomas.

📍Inland from the main parking lot for Cerritos Beach next to Costa Azul surf shop

At Siempre Viva, the best high-end restaurant in Pescadero, sit in the serene and photogenic garden.

12. Siempre Viva

Literally a hidden gem, it feels like an adventure driving to the tucked away garden restaurant, Siempre Viva. It’s best to get there before dark on your first visit, but don’t let that deter you. I highly recommend the pizzas, but honestly everything is fantastic.

Kata serves delectable Mexican interpretations of Japanese dishes

14. Kata

Cuisine: Sushi | Price: $$ | Features: Excellent service, Fun cocktails

Fresh, raw seafood is plentiful in Baja, but when you crave an experience that’s closer to an American-style sushi restaurant, Kata satisfies. Everything else being equal, Kata has better ambiance, service and cocktails than its nearest competitor, Noah’s.

📍C. Ravel, about 0.15 mile south from the main road through El Pescadero

15. Carnitas Machin

Cuisine: Carnitas Tacos | Price: $ | Features: Quick, Great choice for takeout

Eating at Carnitas Machin conjures serious Anthony Bourdain energy. This humble roadside eatery does one thing (shredded pork tacos), and they do it expertly. What Carnitas Machin lacks in ambiance, it makes up for with tender and juicy pork, handmade tortillas and an excellent toppings bar.

📍Carretera 19 about 0.15 mile north of the main road into El Pescadero

Perfectly fried shrimp tacos with flour tortillas, one crunch-battered shrimp and one coconut shrimp.

16. Los Claros

Cuisine: Seafood | Price: $$ | Features: Direct beachfront, Hot tub

At Cerritos Beach Inn’s Sunset Restaurant, the food and cocktails are fine, but (*looks over shoulder and leans closer*) shhh… your meal is an excuse to whale watch from the inn’s hot tub. Please be super respectful and don’t ruin this “hot” little secret of ours: order food and drinks, tip well, and keep your volume down.

📍On Carretera 19, turn about 1.25 miles south of the main Cerritos Beach entrance and stay straight until you arrive at Cerritos Beach Inn

Choripan hoagie with chorizo, melted cheese, tomato, and herb spread.

📍Heroico Colegio Militar between Degollado and Ignacio Zaragoza, Downtown Todos Santos

21. Birria Los Compadres

Cuisine: Birria | Price: $ | Features: Affordable, Authentic

If you’re near Pescadero, you can get your birria fix at Los Compadres instead of driving to Todos. This little food stand can be busy but it’s a controlled chaos. When you’re ready to order, step up to the counter and start ordering as soon as you get the slightest acknowledgement from the staff.

22. Elotes Beto

Cuisine: Corn-based Munchies | Price: $ | Features: Huge portions, Speedy

Elotes Beto combines tasty ingredients with corn, on and off the cob. I order the Tostielote with Salsa Verde Tostitos “con todo y un poquito de chamoy.” This is inexpensive and a hearty snack to share. You may see several Elotes Beto carts around downtown in the evening.

📍Degollado at C. Raul A. Carrillo, Downtown Todos Santos

The sweet bean empanada is perfect every time at La Garita.

23. La Garita

Cuisine: Mexican, Breakfast | Price: $-$$ | Features: Animal farm, Fast & friendly service, Family-friendly

I finally understand why La Garita is frequently mentioned in local online groups. Ever since my first visit, I find any excuse to go back. The staff are excellent at their jobs but also have the freedom to be a little informal and silly. I feel like I’m eating from an abuela’s kitchen… A very talented cocinera abuela. The bean empanadas and tamales steal the show.

Oystera brunch is great with a group who likes to share several small plates in lush and sunwashed environs.

24. Oystera

📍 Most roads in this area have no name – use your GPS. It’s halfway to the beach on the 2nd of 3 main roads leading to San Pedrito from Carretera 19, La Huerta, El Pescadero.

Enjoy a treat from the beautiful display or order a deli item from the menu.

30. Bonjour Madame

Cuisine: French Deli | Price: $-$$ | Features: Tranquilo vibes, French pastries

Walk through the Plaza Victoria gate between 5 Tacos and Bajavaria to find a sweet little secret garden and this French cafe owned by a French couple. We eat with our eyes first, and the food at Bonjour Madame looks and tastes just as perfect as a cafe in Paris.

Fresh and homemade dishes are served at the cleanest buffet I've ever seen.

31. La Generala

Cuisine: Mexican | Price: $ | Features: Scratch-made buffet

There’s usually a wait on weekends at La Generala, but if you time it just right, you can enjoy a plate of the breakfast buffet and then one from the lunch buffet when they switch at noon. They serve an excellent pozole on Saturdays.

33. Cerritos Beach Dogs Cafe

Cuisine: Coffee | Price: $ | Features: Adoptable dogs

Cerritos Beach Dogs is a non-profit dog rescue. 100% of proceeds go to supporting the pups. At the time of writing this, their coffee is donated by a local coffee shop. It’s a great cause and so fun and play with the puppies up for adoption before heading to the beach.

📍Main road to Cerritos Beach, about a 1/4 mile before the beach

34. Taller 17

Cuisine: Coffee, Bakery | Price: $ | Features: Take out only, Kind staff

Good coffee and absolutely stellar baked goods in the heart of downtown. Sometimes they sell out of certain items, so get there early for the full selection.

📍C. Centenario at C. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, Downtown Todos Santos
